This site is really two different web sites in one and we have divided the pages accordingly.This page is a mixture of the two. Cancer pages are pages with information about various different types of cancer ranging from bowel cancer to breast cancer and prostate cancer to cervical cancer.
The other part of the site is devoted to West Suffolk, Thetford and Sudbury Cancer Support Group. There are many Cancer Self Help Groups in the UK. They support those people who have been affected by Cancer and that means they are open to a wide variety of people.
The West Suffolk, Thetford and Sudbury Cancer Support Group is open to those who have or have had Cancer, their families and their friends. It is also open to those who have been affected by Cancer, even if that person who has or had Cancer does not or did not attend the group. So if you have or had a friend or relative with Cancer then you are very welcome.
The group is a registered charity, our charity number is 1028101.
The benefits of being a registered charity are: - do not normally have to pay income/corporation tax (in the case of some types of income), capital gains tax, or stamp duty, and gifts to charities are free of inheritance tax; pay no more than 20% of normal business rates on the buildings which they use and occupy to further their charitable purposes; can get special VAT treatment in some circumstances; are often able to raise funds from the public, grant-making trusts and local government more easily than non-charitable bodies; can formally represent and help to meet the needs of the community; are able to give the public the assurance that they are being monitored and advised by the charity commission; * can seek advice from the charity commission; and can get information from the charity commission, for example, our range of free publications.
